About This Place

Nestled along the picturesque waterfront at 221 Harbor Pl N in Goodland, Florida, Stan's Idle Hour Seafood Restaurant is a beloved local gem that has been delighting seafood lovers for over three decades. Renowned for its vibrant tiki bar atmosphere and waterfront views, this iconic eatery combines fresh, flavorful dishes with a lively social scene that keeps both locals and visitors coming back again and again.

The cuisine at Stan’s is a celebration of coastal flavors, showcasing expertly prepared seafood alongside a tempting array of hearty favorites. Dive into the signature All You Can Eat Snow Crab Night every Tuesday and Thursday, an irresistible feast for crab enthusiasts. For those who crave variety, the menu boasts standout items such as oysters on the half shell—brimming with briny, refreshing ocean taste—steamed Gulf shrimp that burst with natural sweetness, soft shell crab cakes and platters cooked to golden perfection, and a Blackened Grouper Plate that delivers a bold, smoky kick.

The culinary offerings don’t stop there. Unique Floridian touches like Florida Gator Bites provide adventurous eaters with something delightfully different, while classics such as fish tacos, clam strips, and the ever-popular Buzzard Rum Punch keep the menu balanced and approachable. Each dish comes alive with vibrant textures and fresh, rich flavors that echo the spirit of the Gulf Coast.

Beyond the food, Stan’s Idle Hour pulses with an infectious energy that’s hard to resist. The spacious, open-air tiki bar overlooks the water, inviting guests to pull up on a boat or settle in for an unforgettable evening. Music plays a central role in the experience, with lively bands spinning a mix of classic rock, country, and crowd-pleasing hits from the ’70s through today, making it a hub for dancing, laughter, and new friendships. As customer Yianna Blenios joyfully shares, returning with family to drink, dance, and soak in the atmosphere is a cherished ritual.

The friendly crowd and attentive staff enhance the warmth of this local institution. Guests enjoy well-chilled beers including Budweiser, Stella Artois, and Corona, alongside a curated wine list featuring Chardonnay and Merlot, perfectly complementing the coastal fare. The drink menu also features local favorites like the Buzzard Rum Punch, praised for its generous pours and refreshing island vibe.

If you’re planning a visit, be sure to arrive early, especially on Sundays when the buzzing social scene and live music make Stan’s the place to be. Parking can be tight during peak hours, so consider alternative transportation to fully embrace the carefree party spirit. Whether you’re savoring their famous soft shell crab sandwiches or soaking up the vibrant ambiance with a bucket of beer in hand, Stan’s Idle Hour Seafood Restaurant delivers an authentic taste of Florida’s coastal culture with every visit.

Back again, this time with my daughter and sister, we all had a brilliant time today, drinking and dancing and meeting new people. The band were amazing. We absolutely love it here. And will probably be back next week

Really fun place to go and experience. Good live music - traditional 70s, 80s, 90s and some older and newer stuff like new country, not the stuff the younger generation listens to today, at least not this day. Was a bit disappointed in the grouper sandwich because it was really thin grouper. To be a good grouper sandwich it has to be really thick or all you taste is bread and condiments. Everyone raved about it in reviews but if you're going to get it, don't get the sandwich, just get the grouper it's blackened taste was good. Thr fries were luke warm not hot. The waitress was great. Oh, note that they're now charging a whopping 3% fee for credit cards and the costs are already high. I don't know why we put up with such high costs and fees. People still just seem to spend money like it grows from trees. It's loud there, but if you like a crowded, loud, very active place on a Sunday this is it. A LOT of drinking and parking can be difficult unless you're willing to walk a ways and park on side of street/road which is okay. Good luck getting a table if you don't go early before they open or go later like 3 pm. Overall, we had fun but was NOT inexpensive for what we got.

THE place to be on a Sunday. Arrive by 10:00 if you want a seat. Burger was okay. Drinks were cold and reasonably priced come for the music and people watching.

Great tiki bar on the water. I never pass by on the bike without stopping at this watering hole. Chicken wings are always good and the Rum rations are always generous. Sundays is usually a bit of a wait for food because the Sunday party can get pretty crazy here. I like to go on Friday or Saturday. Cheers !

Local place been in business for over 30 decades. Home of the Buzzard Lope dance and just good music, food and lots of people watching! If you have a boat you can pull up on the waterside and listen and enjoy the music. If driving recommend getting there early as party is tight and parking will extend up the road. Instead take a taxi and or take one home is easier especially if you drink and enjoy the atmosphere. Which you will! (Did I mention lots of people watching??) Local bizs support Stan's and there is a small shop called the "Island Woman" where you can get an official Stan's shirt, tank or other souvenir. Great place for drinks, bring cash too as some of the satellite bars are cash only.

Love this place. Good food and good music. Only thing is that gets a little chilly and buggy at night. And they don’t have stone crabs. But every thing else.

Great Halloween night time. No oysters on the halfshell tonight, though. When you're in the area, Stan's is the place to go.
